Y KIDS ACADEMY
Preschool Program

Whether you are looking to get a head start on your child’s education, get them ready for Kindergarten, or supplement what they are learning in a current preschool or Kindergarten classroom, Y Kids Academy is the place to be!

In this class, your child will learn through play and a variety of educational experiences in line with the PA Standards. Your child will engage in self-guided and teacher guided exploration, both small group and large group lessons with a Christian emphasis.

The curriculum will focus on the development of pre-reading, literacy and language skills, math, science, fine and gross motor skills, music, art, and social skills.

CLASS INFORMATION:

Preschool Class (for 3-4 yrs):
Must be 3 years old as of September 1, 2018 and potty trained.
Monday & Wednesday 9:00-11:00AM or Tuesday & Thursday 1:00-3:00PM

Pre-K/Kindergarten Enrichment (for 4½-6 yrs):
Must be 4 years old as of March 1, 2018 and potty trained.
Monday & Wednesday 1:00-3:00PM or Tuesday & Thursday 9:00-11:00AM

ENROLLMENT & TUITION INFORMATION:

  • The school year will run Tuesday, September 4, 2018 – Thursday, May 23, 2019.
  • Enrollment for the 2018-2019 school year is open and requires a $50 non-refundable deposit, which will be applied to student’s first month’s tuition.
  • Tuition is $50 per month, automatically drafted the 1st of each month, October 2018 – May 2019.

NEW FOR 2018-2019: OPTIONAL EXTENDED DAY PRESCHOOL!

Give your child the opportunity to extend their preschool day! They will bring their lunch and share the experience with their classmates. The schedule will include time to play on the indoor playground or outside in the field. Also, the children will participate in preschool programs ranging from swimming lessons, bitty sports, art classes or even cooking classes! Schedule will change on a monthly basis.

  • Requirements: Must be enrolled in Preschool Class or Pre-K/Kindergarten Enrichment.
  • Classes: Meet twice per week on Mondays & Wednesdays 11:00AM-1:00PM or
    Tuesdays & Thursdays 11:00AM-1:00PM, depending on child’s preschool class day.
  • Registration: Required monthly and is available the 15th-30th/31st of the prior month. Tuition: $75 per month*, due at time of registration (*in addition to monthly tuition).

Ages 3+
Benefits of a private swim instructor include:

  •     Individual guidance to perfect your stroke technique
  •     Convenience of scheduling with your own instructor.

Registration:
An application is required before registration. Please find the application at the Member Service Desk or the link above and return to the Aquatics Coordinator. After application is received you will be contacted by the Aquatics Department.


All Preschool Swim Lessons run for 30 minutes.

SWIM STARTERS: Accompanied by a parent, infants and toddlers learn to be comfortable in the water and develop swim readiness skills through fun and confidence building experiences, while parents learn about water safety, drowning prevention, and the importance of supervision.

A/ WATER DISCOVERY:

Parents accompany children in stage A, which introduces infants and toddlers to the aquatic environment through exploration and encourages them to enjoy themselves while learning about the water.

B/ WATER EXPLORATION:

In stage B, parents work with their children to explore body positions, floating blowing bubbles, and fundamental safety and aquatic skills.

SWIM BASICS: Students learn personal water safety and achieve basic swimming competency by learning two benchmark skills: 1.) Swim, float, swim— sequencing front glide, roll, back float, roll, front glide, and exit. 2.) Jump, push, turn, grab

1/ WATER ACCLIMATION:

Students develop comfort with underwater exploration and learn to safely exit in the event of falling into a body of water in stage 1. This stage lays the foundation that allows for a student’s future progress in swimming.

2/ WATER MOVEMENT:

In stage 2, students focus on body position and control, directional change, and forward movement in the water while also continuing to practice how to safely exit in the event of falling into a body of water.

3/ WATER STAMINA:

In stage 3, students learn how to swim to safety from a longer distance than in previous stages in the event of falling into a body of water. This stage also introduces rhythmic breathing and integrated arm and leg action.

Gym Jamboree

Ages 2-5 years old. Participants will improve their movement skills and coordination by participating in various activities including obstacle course, follow the leader, dancing & singing, parachute games and much more.


Karate – Little Dragons/Mighty Dragons
Member $50  |  Non-Member $95

Ages 4-6. Tang Soo Do is a traditional Korean Martial Art that teaches the values of integrity, concentration, self-control and perseverance while emphasizing skills in practical self-defense. Registration is required monthly, available the 15th through the end of the month.

Little Dragons: For all new and first year students wanting to learn martial arts.
Class meets on Tuesdays 4:15 PM-5:00 PM, class size limited to 6 participants.

Mighty Dragons: For transitioning from Dragons to the Youth Martial Arts classes.
Minimum one year in Little Dragons and instructor invitation required.
Class meets on Thursdays 4:15 PM-5:05 PM, class size limited to 6 participants.

Little Champs Basketball

This Parent Child program aims to strengthen the relationship between parent and child using fun basketball related activities. It emphasizes fundamental skill development, self-esteem, fair play and fun in positive class environment. The program is designed to give children a positive introduction to the sport of basketball. This will be held outside even in the rain and we will move indoors only with severe weather.


Little Champs Soccer

This Parent Child program focuses on modified games and activities for ages 3-5 that emphasize fundamental skill development, self-esteem, fair play and fun in positive class environment. The program is designed to give children a positive introduction to the sport of soccer. This will be held outside even in the rain and we will move indoors only with severe weather.


Micro Football

Children will be given a positive introduction to the sport of football. Fun drills, activities and modified games will be used to create an enjoyable experience. It emphasizes fundamental skill development, self-esteem, fair play and fun in a positive class environment.

Creative Kids

Ages 3-5. This exciting class will focus on a famous artist and author each week.  Your child will be introduced to different art styles and different mediums and making their own masterpieces! Parent is not required to attend the class with the child, but must remain on site.


 

Kids Can Cook

Ages 3-5 years old. In this class, nutrition and healthy eating habits are introduced as children prepare fun recipes each week. Children will enjoy a story, game and creating a special cooking creation each week. Weekly themes range from Snack Attack Week to Colors On My Plate Week. Parent is not required to attend the class with the child.
