The YMCA approaches swim lessons as part of a life-long process of learning and enjoying swimming. Our structure is based on:
THREE STAGES of learning (Starters, Basics, Strokes) based on ability
SIX LEVELS of learning that expand learning, stamina, and confidence

Parent/Child Swim Lessons 

Ages: 6 months - 3 years

One session includes four (4) 30-minute classes.

Accompanied by an adult, infants and toddlers ages 6 months to 3 years learn to be comfortable in the water and develop swim readiness skills through fun and confidence-building experiences, while parents learn about water safety, drowning prevention and the importance of supervision. Parents work with their children to explore body positions, floating, blowing bubbles and fundamental safety and aquatic skills.


Preschool Swim Lessons

Ages: 3-4 Years

One session includes seven (7) 30-minute classes.

Preschool swim lessons are a great way to get your child comfortable with water safety and skill. Preschool swim lessons offer safety, encouragement, and peace of mind for your children. The confidence they acquire stems from their newfound abilities in the pool and positive interactions with their peers!


School-Age Swim Lessons

Ages: 5-12 Years

One session includes seven (7) 30-40 minute classes (time varies by level).

Our school-age swim lessons introduce water propulsion, floating, body awareness and independence, all while focusing on water safety and drowning prevention. We cover all major swim strokes, and eventually introduce competitive swimming techniques like racing-starts and flip-turns.


Adult Swim Lessons

Ages: 18+ Years

One session includes four (4) 45-minute classes.

It’s never too late to learn how to swim! Our adult swim lessons provide a friendly small-group setting for adults who want to learn how to swim or improve their technique and feel safe and secure in any body of water.
